How should I dress when looking at houses?

Most people in West Tennessee look at houses somewhere in the range of business casual to shorts, sneakers, and T-shirts’. That’s a wide spectrum and it really just boils down to what you are comfortable in. There are a few things you may want to think about first.

Wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off. It’s important to note that some sellers will ask you to remove your shoes or wear shoe covers when visiting their property. That also makes it important to wear socks. Being barefoot in a stranger’s house may make you feel awkward. I usually carry shoe covers in my truck but if I’m out you can wear my socks and I’ll go barefoot so you won’t feel awkward.

We may look at a house with swimming pools but unfortunately, we won’t be able to “test them out”. While shorts and a t-shirt a perfectly acceptable I would stop short of swimwear.

Depending on the time of year it may be wise to also think about a hat, sunglasses, a jacket/coat, and a rain jacket and umbrella.

I know it may seem like an odd question but many people have asked and many probably wanted to but never did. Stay comfortable and keep the above tips in mind. Do you have more questions about what to wear? Get in touch and let us know.
